So Many Stitches a Week - Week 11

Hi Blogger Friends.  Thank you for all the nice comments and votes on my last post.  I also asked for votes on the Stitch Maynia facebook group.  Mr. Darcy started way ahead than Jane passed him up and won by 2 votes.  Some gals just said Jane and some Jane Eyre.  No one said Jane Austin.  I should be able to start Jane Eyre next week.

I am already thinking about projects for next year.  As you can see by the title I will be calling it "So Many Stitches a Week".  A different project Sunday through Saturday.  Mr Darcy will be my January 1 start and one of the projects.

For this years pieces I roughly counted the total number of stitches I have left on each one and divided by 41 weeks left in the year to see how many stitches I have to do per week to get each one done by the end of the year.  This are done through week 11.  I will tell you on each one below.

Sweet Spring by Satsuma Street - 70 stitches per week

Dog Park by Satsuma Street - 125 stitches per week

Garden Cat by Satsuma Street - 110 stitches per week

Pretty Little New York by Satsuma Street - 70 stitches per week

Pretty Little Barcelona by Satsuma Street - 205 stitches per week

The Mad Hatter by MrsPeggottyArts on Etsy - 80 stitches per day - His hat is taking shape.
I did 1369 stitches for a total of 5605 stitches.  I only have to do 1115 this week to be caught up.

I am really enjoying working on The Mad Hatter and will be very sad when I get him caught up.  Then I will be happy because I will start Jane Eyre and get to work on her in the evenings until she is caught up and will be sad again.  Then I will get happy again because I will start another one.  She told me she is going to be working on the Wizard of Oz characters.  I am trying to convince her to do Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Ten-a-day Week 10

Hi Blogger Friends.  Thank you for the nice comments.  I have the second and half the third ten-a-day projects up to date.

Sweet Spring by Satsuma Street - Week 10

Dog Park by Satsuma Street - Weeks 1 - 10

The Mad Hatter by MrsPeggottyArts on Etsy - I did 1711 stitches this week for a total of 4236 stitches.  If I can do that many stitches each week I should have it caught up in a couple of weeks.

I have taken out Mermaid Myrna from the ten-a-day projects.  I really didn't want to work on it.  I am really enjoying working on The Mad Hatter.  It makes for good progress while TV watching.  So I have decided to start one of the following as my seventh project.  BUT, I need your help again.  Please leave a comment with your choice of which one I should do.

How I organize my starts - Rotation - 10-a-day

WARNING!!  Very very long post.

Hi Blogger Friends.  Thank you for all of the nice comments and suggestions on my last post.  You all are truly the best friends.
I have had several gals ask me how I keep track of all my starts.  I am going to try and explain it.  First of all I am from the very old school and like pen and paper.  I don't trust modern technology.  I don't even have a cell phone.  My husband has one and I don't even know how to turn the stupid thing on.  Without this computer though I would never have met all of you - my awesome blogger friends.

Here are a couple binder pages.  I have the name of the chart, designer, fabric color, date started and date finished.  My number system is kinda wacky but it works for me.  I keep all my starts in gallon zip bags except the BAP's are in bigger ones.  I have a sticky dot on the bag with the start number that goes with the number in the binder.

If I am looking for a certain project it does take a few minutes to go through all the pages in the binder.  I also don't have 756 gallon bags.  Each set like Lizzie Kate Stamps, Blessings, etc. are in one bag each.  The 26 little alphabet charts I started last April are in one bag.  The 24 little city charts by Tiny Modernist are in 4 bags in alphabetical order.  The Clouds Factory starts from this year are in 5 bags in alphabetical order.  You get the idea.  I have most of them stored in 3 plastic tubs like this one.  Most all of the sets are in a plastic 3 drawer storage thing in the living room  next to my stitching spot.

That's really it.  Easy peasy.

I decided last Sunday that I am not going to do the April A - Z Challenge anymore.  You don't sign up on their blog.  They have a facebook page (not even a group).  They will do a post each day for the letter and you have to leave a comment with a link to your blog post.  More trouble than I care to be bothered with.  (This week has been the first in many many months that I haven't had a stress headache everyday.)  I am very happy with my decision.

So for the past week I have been working on my Ten-a-day projects.  I haven't made a lot of progress but I don't care.  I WILL get caught up just like I did with starts last year.  I have one caught up:

Sweet Spring by Satsuma Street - Weeks 1 thru 9

I have also been working on The Mad Hatter.  My new obsession.  I added 1350 stitches for a total of 2525.  Geez it might take me all year to get caught up on this one.

My ROTATION plans (I hope).  The first 7 are my Ten-a-day projects.

1.  Sunday - Sweet Spring by Satsuma Street - 70 for the week
2.. Monday - Dog Park by Satsuma Street - 70 for the week
3.  Tuesday - Garden Cat by Satsuma Street - 70 for the week
4.  Wednesday - Pretty Little New York by Satsuma Street - 70 for the week
5.  Thursday - Mermaid Myrna by Diane Arthurs - 70 for the week
6.  Friday - The Mad Hatter by MrsPeggottyArts on Etsy - 80 per day
7.  Saturday - Pretty Little Barcelona by Satsuma Street - 70 per week

I will be doing a lot more stitches on them until I get caught up.  After that it should only take me a couple hours a day to work on them so that will give me the evening to work on other projects.  I had the random number generator pick the next ones.  I will work on them for as long or as little as I want until one is done than I will pick another.

8.  Pretty Little Berlin by Satsuma Street - Started 1-15-17 - I only had 5 non Clouds Factory starts this year and the RNG was nice to me and picked this one.
9. the Beaver from Prairie Lodge by Prairie Schooler - started 11-25-16
10.  Bazinga  by Clouds Factory - started 1-22-15
11.  I am going to start with  Aladdin by  Clouds Factory started in January and stitch one character.  It could take a day, week or month.  I don't care.  When its done I will go to the next chart, etc.  When I reach the end of the alpabet I will start over until they are all done.
12.  ????  Right now I am very obsessed with The Mad Hatter.  I am either going to pull out a BAP that is started or start another one from MrsPeggottyArts.

I will be doing a weekly update on Sundays.  If you made it this far THANK YOU.  I think I've rattled on long enough.

Thanks for stopping by.    Linda

Feb, GG and Smalls SAL's, Start 32, Giveaway Winner

Hi Blogger Friends.  Thank you for all the comments and giveaway guesses.  There were a few that scared me.  lol

GIFTED GORGEOUSNESS is being hosted by Jo of Serendipitous Stitching.  (Jo you need to change your blog name to Jo's Stitching.  That word is to hard to spell.) LOL  We all have projects that have been gifted to us or pieces that we are doing as gifts.   This SAL is so we can work on those and post on the 15th.  The magazine was gifted to me by our wonderful hostess.
This is mini London by Satsuma Street. I managed to finish the red on the bus and start the bridge.  I still have New York to stitch.  At this rate I'll be working on these for the next 5 years.

It's the last Friday of the month and time for the Smalls SAL post.  This is being hosted by Heather of Stitching Lotus  We pick a small project to stitch on and post a finished picture on the last Friday of the month.  (This is one that didn't get finished for the April challenge last year.)
The Flintstones by Clouds Factory
14ct Blue Ridge Aida
Started 2-27-16
Finished 2-25-17

Start 32 The Mad Hatter by MrsPeggottyArts on Etsy

I was having major burn out from working on my April challenge pieces and had to start it.  This is project 6 for my ten -a-day which will be 80 a day which will be a whole lot more a day (starting May 1) until I get caught up.  This is 1175 stitches or weeks 1 and 2.

This is going to be project 7.  Pretty Little Barcelona by Satsuma Street started 1-8-15.

Now for the giveaway.  The winning guess was 750 which was:

As of January 31, 2017 I had 756 UFO's/WIP's.

I don't know about you but when I'm sitting at the table stitching I do a whole lot of thinking (unless I'm counting).  So many of you have rotations or schedules that seem to work for you.  I really would like to get a rotation/schedule figured out and that is what I have been doing a lot of thinking about.  I think I have come up with one that I will be happy with starting May 1.  I will let you know as it gets closer to that date.  You all know me - I'll change my mind a hundred times between now and then.

Thanks for stopping by.   Linda

Giveaway

Hi Blogger Friends.  Thank you for all of the sweet comments and words of encouragement.  I really appreciate them.

I did my first blog post on 1-2-11 and never thought I would ever have so many awesome friends.  Thank you for sticking with me.  I would like to do a little giveaway in honor of my 6 year Blogoversary.  It's going to be a little contest.  Guess how many TOTAL Wip's/UFO's I have started.
It's a whole bunch.  The person guessing the closest without going over will win a $15.00 gift certificate.

Comment on this post only with your guess.  I will keep it open until February 25.

On a sidenote - Of course I haven't touched my Ten-a-day projects since the second week.  BUT, I like to play catch up.  I have also decided that I am going to add 2 more projects.  That way I can do 70 stitches a day in each one and hopefully will have 7 finishes by the end of the year.  HOWEVER, (you knew that was coming - right.)  One of the projects will be a start sometime soon I hope or maybe not until May 1.  I am trying to decide which one.  Any suggestions?  I would only have to do about 55 stitches everyday to get it done.  More of course until I get it caught up.

Thanks for stopping by.   Linda

PS  I'm still frantically stitching away on my April challenge projects.

My sweet Mocha.  RIP

Starts 25 - 31

Hi Blogger Friends.  Thank you for all of the nice comments and well wishes.  Something sad happened yesterday and I have decided I'm done complaining.  A little history about me.

I have had cluster/stress headaches for the last 47 years.  My feet and legs started swelling over 20 years ago.  I had breast cancer and a mastectomy and the lymph nodes on my left side removed 22 years ago.   My arm is about 3 times bigger and probably weighs 5 pounds more than the right.  I am very fat and I still smoke.  I'm pretty much blind in my right eye from birth.  I have to wear glasses for stitching and reading and somedays it doesn't like to see very well.  My carotid artery was 99 percent blocked 4 years ago and it had to be roto rooted.  I'm 67 years old and the only thing that still works good is my heart.

Yesterday we had to have one of our beloved cats put to sleep.  She had a large tumor on the left side of her jaw that was cancer.  There was nothing they good do for her.  She was only 7 1/2.  Last year we had to have one of our dogs put to sleep.  He had liver cancer and they could not do anything for him either.  He was only 9 1/2 years old.

I realized after yesterday with Mocha that life is to short to moan and groan and feel sorry for myself.  At least I'm still alive.  I don't know how much longer I will be able to see to stitch.  That is why I start so many projects.  At least I can say I got to work on them a little. So, no more complaining.  Enough said.

Start 30

Start 31 - This one is for the April challenge.  It is an alphabet chart (not Clouds Factory) stitched on one piece of fabric which I haven't even cut yet.  Each letter has a box around it.  I am hoping to get the boxes stitched by April.  I will start one letter a day (not counted as starts) in April.  If I get the letter done - yeah me.  If not, that's okay.

I haven't worked on my Ten-a-day projects since the second week.  You all know how stubborn I am and I will get caught up even if it takes me until December.  lol  I will be doing more starts this year.  But, only when I can't control myself.  In fact, I think I have found my new obsession designs for this year.  The Alice and Red Riding Hood bundles from MrsPeggottyArts on Etsy.  I'll see how long I can wait before I start one.

Thank you if you made it this far.  I hope to be back Sunday with at least one Ten-a-day project caught up.

Mini London by Satsuma Street - I stitched the red on the bus.  Boy, am I having a hard time stitching on this dark fabric.  It took me an hour to stitch those few red stitches.  I wanted to finish the red, but I have such a nasty headache, I gave up.  But, I figure I better post something or Jo's going to kick me out.  lol

It's the last Friday of the month and time for the first Smalls SAL post.  This is being hosted by Heather of Stitching Lotus.  We pick a small project to stitch on and post a finished picture on the last Friday of the month.

Starts 16 - 24

Hi Blogger Friends.  Thank you for all your ideas on my last post.  But, darn, you weren't any help. LOL  My legs don't seem to like the extreme cold either.  We have had 17 days of rain this month. Last week we had rain, hail and 50 MPH wind gusts.  I spent most of the week in bed freezing and hurting as I set the heater at 69.  Tad bit warmer the last couple days.  That said - I didn't touch my Ten-a-day pieces last week or this week yet.  I hope to at least get last week and this week done so I can post them on the 31st.  I have decided if I don't post them once a week in February and March I won't have anything to post.  I will be madly trying to get stuff worked on for the April challenge. Here are my last 9 starts.

I have a question for all of you.  I am doing 31 starts this month.  Feb. March and April will be spent on working on my April A - Z pieces so I really won't have much to post except the Ten-a-Day pieces.  Only problem with posting them once a week is its kinda hard to see much - if any progress.  I may have a couple starts thrown in if I can get some natural brown fabric.
My question is:  Would you prefer to see progress pics on them once a week, by-weekly or once a month.  Appreciate your reply.

Thanks for stopping by.   Linda
